Watch the Trailer for EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert Ahead of Its IMAX Release

Get ready for the most exciting concert doc in years with EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert. Elevation Pictures released the trailer for Baz Luhrmann’s electrifying concert documentary today ahead of its theatrical release. EPiC’s theatrical run will begin on February 20 with the full IMAX experience so that audiences can see these recently discovered and lovingly restored images from Presley’s Las Vegas residency on the biggest screen possible. It then expands into more theatres on February 27. This is one film you really need to see in the theatres.

EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert features some rare footage that Luhrmann encountered during his research for his 2022 biopic that starred Austin Butler as the King of Rock and Roll. The film includes souped up 8mm and 35mm footage from the Vegas residency and Presley’s work in the studio at Graceland. Besides the concert footage, the documentary includes voiceover from Elvis as he reflects on family, fame, music, politics, and faith. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last fall where it scored the runner-up for the People’s Choice Award for Documentary and literally had audiences dancing in the aisles and all through the credits.

“Luhrmann brings his signature freewheeling bombast to the documentary and dials it up to 11. He unabashedly blows the speakers here and that’s what the King deserves,” I wrote in POV’s review from TIFF. “Moreover, Luhrmann’s hyperactive style suits an archival documentary extremely well…Thanks to the restoration, Presley’s sweat has never glistened so sharply. The 35mm images truly pop. Luhrmann assembles a killer tracklist with this footage and does an admirable job of curating a set list from so many hits. The songs generally play in full, too, which allows everyone in the theatre to develop an emotional connection to each number and let the energy of the performances overtake them.”

EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert opens exclusively in IMAX on Feb. 20.

It opens in more theatres on Feb. 27.
